The Crew

Benno is a 25 year old from Abernethy, Scotland is currently working in London for L’Oreal. A keen sportsman he has made the transition from rugby to endurance sports initially with cycling the UK 3 peaks challenge before taking on ultra marathons including the Marathon des Sables (2nd U25) and running 100 miles non-stop.
Calum McNicol lives on the Isle of Arran in Scotland with his partner Vicky and their 3 children Harris, Innes, and Lachlan-Argyll. He has over 20 years experience working on the sea teaching a variety of sports including sea kayaking and sailing. He runs his own Adventure Company. Calum is the training coordinator for the Island RNLI Lifeboat station. 
James was born on 29th May 1981, Durban, South Africa. James has always been a keen endurance athlete having completed the London and Shanghai Marathons, Marathon des Sables (2nd British finisher), Jungle Marathon, Verdon Ultra, half and full iron mans as well as 10km swims.
Jan is a 27 year old furniture designer at LINLEY. As a keen distance runner and amateur rower, he has always been ambitious with a need to strive towards big goals. On his 27th birthday he realised he need something bigger to aim for that would push him harder than he had ever imagined possible; rowing the Atlantic seemed like the perfect way to do this!
Leven Brown is said to be one of the best ocean rowing skippers in the world. If you want to break records, he is the man to do it with!
As a boy of 15, Leven was inspired to take up oars in 1987 when he attended the ‘John Ridgway School of Adventure’. His first rowing adventure saw Leven row solo from Spain to Trinidad and Tobago becoming the first person to row out of the bay of Cadiz. Since then he has broken world records across the trade routes and north Atlantic.
Tim is a 33 year old police officer from Melbourne, Australia. He is a keen outdoorsman and has participated in club and school rowing over the years along with a few seasons of surf boat rowing. More recently Tim has been coaching at both school and club level rowing.
Livar Nysted is 40 years old, married to Svanna and has 4 daughters. Livar has been competition rowing in the Faroe Islands for many years and has won 3 championships. He has rowed more than 5,000 miles at sea and in 2010 he was part of the Artemis Investments crew that set 2 world records crossing the North Atlantic: “fastest crossing” 43 days 21 hrs 26 mins, and “24-hour speed record on the North Atlantic route, covering 118miles (103 n/miles) “.
Peter is 22 years old and comes from Salisbury, Wiltshire. He is a keen sportsman & spent 2yrs racing sleddogs in Alaska with a finish in the 2010 Yukon Quest. Currently studying for a degree in Agriculture.
